Critique Club Critique

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) This is one of the strongest compositions in the challenge this week. The balance between the straight line of the strings and the curve of the hole is powerful! The detail is wonderful, I almost feel that I could strumb the strings.

(2) BACKGROUND The background is very dark, just the proper background to show the strings off to their best advantage. This would not have worked as well with anything else.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL I have read your comments and see that many people have picked up on the soft focus. I can see that but to me it is just not that disturbing. Other than that, your camera work is outstanding. The composition is extremely good.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Your post processing is very good. Saturation is good. The colors here are really quite wonderful.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo a very good job of meeting the challenge. This may be the very best of the guitar photos.

I know I critiqued your photo last week and I will understand if you would like someone elses viewpoint. Personally I think this is excellent!

A very simple image, but also impactful! The geometry of this shot is very good. I like the vertical strings against the curve and inlay shapes. Reminds me of putting things inside my Dad's guitar when I was little (he didn't like that very much!). Nicely done! 8

An easy on the eyes image thanks to the warm wood tones. The metal strings contrast nicely to the dark hollow. Although this is obviously a study in detail I would like to see a strummin' ghost pinky or two for human/ theme interest. But that would plunge your score to "3" here instead of the big 7.2 you are likely to nab. I like the different assymetrical composition of curves versus lines & rectangles. Simply beautiful.

I thought I was a grump handing out low scores left and right, Finally I come to one I like! you get a nine for cheering me up and for bad focus.

The image could be just a tad sharper, but otherwise a nice image.

Nice shot. Focus on the inlay could have been sharper.

Very nice shot. The only thing that I would have liked to have seen is that the curve of the guitar hole not be cut off so that the base string would have met it both above and below. Maybe pulling back a slight bit would have accomplished this.

WoW... Now I'm going to have to dust off my guitar and try to emulate this. Composition is great! The focus seems a little soft and while that may have been intentional, I'm left wondering what it would look like sharp.

Maybe it is just my screen, but this picture looks a little bit soft. I like the lighting on the strings and the composition quite a bit though.
