I love old trains and have many images of derelicts so this image really resonates with me. It's just terrific. To have the depth of detail and crisp, clear colors that lead on into the bright white light of the beyond? Incredible composition, IMO. Congrats on the TT! |

Yes it's abandoned, but this rail car appears kind of sprightly. As a matter of fact, since it's emerging from the outright oblivion of the upper left corner, there's almost a sense of resurrection here. The colors are rich, and the semi-circle of green further enlivens. The composition is well-balanced.
At first I saw the chock in front of the left wheel - from our perspective - as a human hand. Happy Halloween.
Excellent image. |

what a wonderful subject. not sure that the composition is working for me, though. the leading lines are quickly taking me out of the image, rather than through it. and they're leading me right into a serious glare. and the eye-level perspective is just a bit too pedestrian. maybe if you had shot it from the far right, and either higher or lower, you would have made a more compelling image.
love the colors, though.
these are by no means perfect, but take a look to get an idea as to what i'm talking about. retired monster |
