I disagree with some of the comments here, I mean, are we talking photographic impressionism or the old masters? I like this piece a real lot and I think it exemplifies the way to use a camera to achieve the best results possible for a camera (and not fake another art style in a meaningless way)
so, great job and underrated. |

Beautiful image. I want to score it high, but I don't personally think of soft focus alone as impressionism. I mean, the colors and composition are excellent, but it's practically a traditional photograph. Very daring of you to use such a bold border! 6 |

This says more "soft focus" to me than "Impressionism" It's not a bad shot, just doesn't really say Impressionism to me. |

Very interesting patterns created by your close up view. Soft focus works good. I like it. Highlights are just right in relation to the shadows. Nice textures, also. |

Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: weak-medium. It does seem to have largely missed the brief.
Image critique: A sweet scene with much Christmas spirit, nicely composed with some good detail and appropriate treatment.
Out-of-challenge appeal: not much for me.

returning for comments:
While not strictly in the impressionistic spirit, this image presents a unique contribution in the presentation of an idea. No points deducted. Bumping up. |

This looks like a Wal-mart premade Christmas tree a bit unfocused. Seems like it would have been even more effective with even less focus on the ornaments. |

I really don't see impressionism here personally.
Nice greeting card appearance though. |

After looking this over, I was think that the balls should have been softened a bit. But then that would have may it to messy. So I was wrong moving you up. |

I'm not sure what the circles are - but the image is really magical. The colors don't suggest Christmas to me - but I don't let titles affect my judgement. The strong black/white border really grabs too much attention from an image that can certainly speak for itself. |

An interesting impressionistic play on shapes, colors and light. Nicely captured. |

i have no clue what i'm looking at, and unfortunately, the image doesn't engage me enough to make me want to wander through it and try to figure it out. |
