Thanks especially for the comments on skin tone and focus. This is a special little girl and I will work on those to the best of my ability before I offer this one to her folks. I can also replace the background - it was not mine, Mary :) - I took this at a graduation party and this was the "background" they had hanging. Didn't want to replace it for use here.

5.44 and stalled going into the last hours of the vote. After the first day, I had no hope that this entry would score high - not even relative to recent win scores. But I will tell you that because of the comments, I count this one a huge success. I've already said thanks twice, once to those who feel the image falls short in some way(s) and once to those who either appreciate those same "ways" or are willing to look past them, well past them :) Now I will just say thanks a third time - a collective thank you to all who took the time to share their thoughts with me.

timeless, or another time. there is a lovely "elsewhere" that reminds me of the illustrations for Harpers and similar in the early 1900's. I'm thinking of Jessie Wilcox Smith who also illustrated Charles Kingsley's The Water Babies.

This superlative portrait would carry the day in a host of challenges. Far from bright or garish, the colors yet soar. The pose, the crop, the lighting, the processing -- all are mesmerizing. And she's utterly beautiful. To say more would only detract.
Personal favorite of the challenge. Head and shoulders above all the rest.

Adorable little girl. On my screen, her skin looks really yellow, and her eyes look a little out of focus. And I know it's a nit but it's one of my bugaboos ('cuz I've been dinged for it): your background is wrinkled.

What a charming and warm portrait. Tonality seems a bit warm for either of the two Kodachromes (25 & 64) that I grew up with but maybe possible with the right filter and light source. 7

The processing says Kodachrome, but the focus is on her right arm, not the eyes.
