...from Critique Club...
Hi David :)
FIRST IMPRESSION:
Cool perspective, out of focus
COMPOSITION:
I like the setup of this shot. You really did capture an interesting perspective. I like how all sides lead to the light right in the middle. This shows how a shot can work even if centered, IMO. :)
TECHNICAL:
This is where I think you lost most of the votes. The lightingis tricky to get right cause your foreground is fairly dark, but the background if very bright. I'm not sure how you'd shoot this to get the right exposure all around...maybe with a flash to compensate for the dark inside. Also the focus is very soft, I think sharp focus would have helped you alot. :(
ARTISTIC:
I think the shot is quite interesting even if technically weak. Sure meets the challenge :)
Cheers and good luck in the future challenges. |

Tough shot (shooting from darkness out to a heavily light area). Far background doesn't come through very well, but the subject (I assume) is the lights and archways. Focus is, well hard to say where. Color - minimal, due to lighting conditions. Overall, I doesn't "grab" me. 6 Swash |

This is cool. The focus is very soft, but I love the composition and the stark contrasts. This photo puts me in an interesting space. I'm not sure where it is, but there's a sense of vastness and airiness to it. |

The perspective in this shot is strong, but the overall image is a little soft.. think a little extra sharpness would be a nice improvement :) - setzler |

This whole image seems a bit out of focus, maybe purposefully. |

this must have been a tough exposure, since you are in a dark area and shooting into light. hmmm. I unfortunately don't have a suggestion on what to do about it. the idea is neat. I would have liked to see more detail in the fountain at the end, and the image itself is tilted. |

Is this the one in Inwood, in Manhatten?
Nice shaped arches. lighting is tough to work with, you managed it fairly well.. |

Very interesting lines and curves. One small recommendation: make the horizon flatter (tilt to the left). Jacko. |
