I wasn’t going enter this challenge but with 3 hours to the deadline I saw a book of matches in the drawer. What the heck. Decided to light it up and see what happens. Quick set up in the basement. Black background and hand held backlighting. Camera on a tripod with a remote trigger release. Alligator clip to hold the matches. Lit the matches with one hand and quickly grabbed the backlight flash and trigger release. I saw the lovely plume of smoke and was able to get 1 decent shot off. I wished I could have gotten more of the top but Since the camera was on a tripod and focused in too close, I wasn’t able to move fast enough to get it. One chance was all I had. I didn’t want to set off the smoke detectors and wake up my wife! None the less not a bad result. I hope we have a related challenge so I can give it another try.
