Was actually trying to shoot for lightning. Got this nifty expensive gadget that predicts the thermowaves, electrovaporizers thingy, some complicated stuff before the actual lightning hits. Had success, with about 5 shots out of 1000. So after thinking this is it. All set up, lightning is so close to me that I feel the hairs on my head react. I start shooting. YAY for me!!!! Every lightning blast there is my camera is shooting it. I am doing the wiggle jiggle in my rubber boots and shorts and scare off the other guy that is there cus I am also talking to myself. A lot about how fabulous this is. It died down after about 1/2 hour and 400+ shots later. I am like, I am the Queen of this Lightning stuff now!. Then remembered the challenge for layers, took 6 shots. Went home all excited. Downloaded 400+ 6 shots.
Once again, I got 3 shots of lightning. Stomp around the house, still talking to myself about how the camera shot the lightning as it was in progress, curse a fair amount, make up new curse words. Then notice the last 6 shots, they are bracketed as I always shoot in 3's. So had 2 shots to work with and voila, edited this and everything was all right with the world again. The dog though, not so sure, he see's those rubber boots and knows I am going to be coming home with my new curse words, so hides. |

This incredible image was my clear favorite for this challenge. I gave it a 9 -- what was I thinking, and how I regret not just making my enjoyment and admiration completely expressed with a 10. The generous foreground, transitioning across muddy water to the line of trees and mountains, and then the amazing turmoil in the sky -- all in focus and wonderfully processed to impart the beautiful, moody atmosphere. The graininess of the clouds strikes me as perfectly conveying the sense that everything is set to explode into wild weather. Terrific. Is this also Parker Lake? |
