So, this is from a second shoot I did for this challenge. The first shoot was with a precious little girl, and I got some really sweet images of her. But I got the feeling the team wasn't overjoyed with them. I began to fret. I checked more outtakes. I didn't think I had that POW!!! shot that I wanted.

So I shot again. With me. Yes, that's me in a hat and crazy dress I picked up at a theater that was having a costume sale. I did not have a remote with me so I had to get up and set the camera timer every single time. About 80 times... And because I shot from a low angle, there was a lot of squatting involved. In a long dress. And a hat...

It was a very sweaty affair, but I'm really pleased with the results.

I'm having such mixed feelings about this. I really think a portrait should show the person, and the face being hidden is really throwing me. I love the processing and the shot, but it doesn't say portrait to me, because I don't feel I'm learning anything about the person. I don't know if they're happy, sad, it they're liking their their predicament or hating it. I always thought a portrait was more personal. Gack. Don't know what to do with this one.

Lovely and painterly. Reminded me of the genre paintings of Chardin
