The first thing this reminded me of, and in part it is because I noticed who took it, is a hood ornament from days gone buy. A hood ornament, personified. And now I see I am not the only one as I just glimpsed other comments!

thank you for gracing us with this instead of winning a ribbon in a challenge (you did that anyway, so who needs this one?)

I like most the disorienting angle. faith is vertiginous, the hope that if we get dizzy enough someone will catch us.

and yes, well composed for the square. a very bold diagonal indeed, pointed to heaven.

She's a goddess. I'm reminded of those deco car hood ornaments from the 1930's.

What I find astonishing here is the importance of the ear. Perfect shape, almost flower like, the only really defined detail. In this underwater feel, the ear picking up sounds and directions is the saving grace

To me she looks like the figurehead of a sunken ship, but she looks toward the surface light and her faith is undiminished.

Looking at the thumb I was thinking underwater so was (pleasantly) surprised when viewing at 100%. The focus falloff at the edges keeps my eyes within the image and the creased background works really well :) (I think I've worked out the angle now).

Do mermaids go "up, up, and awaaaaay?" This one does.

Perfect figurehead of a ship and surely the name of the ship is FAITH

Interesting. Ambiguous. Nice title. It looks like a dream of flying.

I've looked at dozens (it'd be hundreds, really) of your pictures, and never seen anything like this. I can hardly believe you did it, which is no criticism of you or the picture, it's just that I was surprised, as if I came upon an album of Grace Slick singing Streisand songs. I'd listen to it, just as I look at this. Grace's DNA would still shine through on 'People', just as your tones and understatement shine through in this.

Actually, on reflection I'm wrong. Half wrong. Grace Slick could not sing 'People'. But you certainly can do this. So it's a pleasant surprise after all.
Thank you.

effective choice of angling - she could be falling or floating
