About 90% of it is just laying one image over the other in PS and playing with Blend types until I find something I like. Often Lighten/Lighter Color, Darken/Darker Color or Screen blends provide the most pleasing effect. Sometimes finding a couple images that blend well together is the tough part. I tend to like one to be a person either silhouetted or against a light background, and the other image be a landscape with some nice contrast and texture.
