'Bailey'.....my beloved 'brown' dog reluctantly posed for this pic in the backyard. She is 6 1/2 yrs now and going grey round the muzzle. She's still very much a puppy at heart though.

Duplicate layer, brightness/contrast. Replaced the colour of the b/ground....made it darker. usm, made the b/g a bit darker. Clone tool to remove a couple of light patches from the b/g. Resized for web, usm and saved.

Yes, age has a fixed habit of creeping up. Good puppy. Bumping to 6

Ah, but his eyes are still bright! I like the crop but not sure of the 90 degree profile, maybe a 45? I know, what a nitpick.

Interesting angle and use of framing. I am dog lover, and our golden retriever is 13, so my heart is with you. I like the focus on the muzzle, and the contrast of the texture of the fur and the wetness of the nose and eye. Doesn't suck that dogs age so quickly? The subject filling the frame, looking back toward the past works well. Nice photo.

You have achieved a good photograph here with good lighting, focus and detail, color, and good DOF. I feel you could composed your photograph a little better by having your pet facing the camera slightly giving the subject more depth, it would keep the subject from being so flat.
