my theme .. taking photos and doing stuff to them .. more or less .. and maybe experimenting a bit ..

for the March side challenge

was taking photos .. my camera died .. so i got my daughter's camera and took some pics with it after putting my lens on .. i didnt check the quality .. so straight out of the camera was 2544x1696pxls .. so it doesnt go great zoomed ..
but i just had to share this tongue .. !!! ..
cat ppl would know all about cats' tongues and how rough they are .. but i didnt realize how the tongue was constructed .. its like they have spikes on their tongues .. i thought they were just really rough .. not the actual brushes .. fascinating .. clever cats .. lol .. ;)

Did you consider two separate images? For this approach I'd enjoy more detail in the macro piece. Might be hard to get your cat to behave ;-)

Interesting experiment. It reminds me of old-fashioned text books. I like the back and forth motion it sets up as I check out the comparison. The barbs on Molly's tongue are amazing. This approach seems fruitful.

First thought, that tongue looks like a cactus.

Yes, the tongue is brush-like and that's how cats groom themselves. Also if a cat licks you it feels really weird, tends to give you goosebumps. lol

I like both images, this reminds me of a diagram in a medical book where there's a blow-up to emphasize detail. Cats are very independent and intelligent creatures. I'm glad to see you're exploring the world of felines.

This is an amazing image. I have to tell you, that because of this, my cat Bonzai is not speaking to me at the moment. I have been trying to check his tongue to see if he has tongue spikes too, and he apparently believes that I have been overly intrusive. He is extremely offended. I'm sure he will come around and I will just have to try to catch him grooming his fur to further my research.

I am so sorry about your camera. How frustrating!!

ha ha, double tongue. Even the close up looks very well here. Sorry about the camera, but your (and mine) birthday is coming soon, so perhaps... :)

Wow. This is an amazing insight into a cats tongue. I knew they were rough but ouch. Next time one of our cats starts licking me I am going to be weirded out knowing they have a spike tongue.
