A few years ago, this orchid was not doing well inside my house, so I liberated it: removed it from the pot, tied it to a tree, and left it completely alone.

The photo is pretty straight forward, really just a snapshot, but I wanted to share my happy orchid with you. I tuned the image slightly in Snapseed for clarity.

I didn't know you could do this with orchids. It certainly looks happy - and gorgeous.

If you love it let it go. I'm glad it worked out for both of you. It's a treat to see this orchid in all its flowering stages, from bud to bloom. I like the succulence of the bejeweled petals.

The ties came off after a year. It is holding onto the tree all by itself now. :)

Orchids like being tied to trees with nylon cord. There are instructions on how to cultivate them this way and evidently it worked for yours. Very pretty blooms.
