Firstly, I am not sure what the object is, but I have a feeling that it is an urn, if so I am sorry for your loss.

I think that the picture is too cluttered, so it isn't obvious where the focal point is. It would have been possible to have cropped this, but I think a better idea would have been to have put the object directly in front of the window, with no surrounding objects. The window light shining through the glass would have given a very warm glow and brought out the colours and textures of the glass.

Focus seems a bit soft, so focusing on the glass would have helped, or perhaps go into macro mode and take a real close up of the object for more of an abstract effect.

One thing that I have learned from this site is to keep it simple, get rid of all the distracting background and concentrate on the object which caught your eye! I hope that this helps and good luck in the next challenge.

I like the idea of the yellow glass . . . thing . . . diffusing the light from the window. The direction from the left creates some nice textures on the glass. It seems out of focus to me, which is puzzling since the glass is so sharply textured.

close up of this jar would be nice... this way it's a little busy.

Not enough in focus, and not interesting composition. Trying cropping to force the viewr to know what the subject is. I think the object would look great in macro detail.

Not light enough to make your subject standout from everything else. And there's too much of everything else. If you had a plainer background you could put more light on it withou making it look cluttered. Nice subject and idea, just needs a little better execution.

I'm curious to know what this is. I like the vine flowers and the framing but I think the composition is a bit busy.

The composition does not work here. Too much clutter around the focal point.

Did you try a shot of just the back lighted vase? I think that would have been more interesting.

I find the bright background distracting - I realise it's to make the object glow but I would have tried to find a better composition. I might have also considered a darker border to make the object glow more.

Nice image. Very well organized photo. I like the different colors that are added in the background as well. Good job.

I would have cropped this so the main subject isn't so centered. Maybe if you had changed your shooting position a little to the right and taken the photo with both windows in thereby keeping the candle holder to the right. Using the rule of thirds and a little more focus on the candle holder would have done this photo a lot of justice.

Getting closer and eliminating a lot of the distracting back ground would have worked really nice here.

This is a tough situation. You have the bright back light and dark objects to the right. Next time try less exposure (faster shutter, lower ISO, or smaller aperture) and more lighting from this side (somtimes even a simple fill flash will do the trick). There is also a lot going on in the frame. If one didn't know the challenge theme, the subject would not be obvious.

To much competition for focal point.
