This is not my church. It's a chapel on the grounds of an event venue that I was photographing. But it's true. Church makes me happy. Both of my sons are pastors of the most amazing churches I've ever been part of. Both church families welcome and love any and everyone who walks through their doors. In fact, there was a story that went viral a few years ago about a new pastor who came disguised as a grubby homeless person on his first Sunday to see how he was received. His experience was a sad testament to "the church". But I can say without hesitation, that at our churches, that homeless grubby man would have been welcomed, hugged and befriended on sight. And so is every other person, healthy or badly broken... well... maybe the pretentious, pious, judgmental types would find that they don't fit in very well with our peeps, but we don't mind when they leave, because there are plenty of people who come, broken and beat up by life, needing both God and friends who need their seat :) |
