 This Avocet was spied in NYC in October 2019, and it was only the 5th sighting of this bird on record for my city. There were three Avocets in total, and made their home along several vernal ponds located at a beach parking lot. They were there for about 8 or 9 days. These birds are incredibly accommodating allowing me to get as close as several feet away.
