The story is this. On my first ever vacation to Italy in April, 2019, we arrived at night for our stay in Venice and immediately left the hotel for dinner about 8:00. As we departed, the hotel owner advised that later that night would be an unusual "high tide". Not quite comprehending the implications of his warning, we left to walk to dinner.
When dinner was over, the waiter presented the tab and two pair of plastic boots advising that the water level had risen. Outside was a foot of water in the street. The shots were taken during the walk several blocks back to the hotel.
This night had been predicted by weather forecasters as a super high tide that periodically occurs. The global rise in water levels produces this effect in Venice in recent years.

Not sure this is a composite, maybe more of a triptych. But it's an interesting scene. I'm curious where this is and the story behind the flooding. |
