CRITIQUE CLUB
Well, this is just my luck... I have to do my first critique on one of the best photographers here! Well, here goes... =)
CHALLENGE: Obviously met. The lighting draws my eyes to your thumb and the corner of the yolk though. Although it's a great shot, you may have wanted to put more emphasis on the actual yolk, just to meet the challenge. The most interesting thing about this print is how the yolk seems to defy gravity. It's an awesome effect.
TECHNICAL: I don't see anything wrong with the settings you used. It's a very sharp, clear photo.
LIGHTING: The lighting is gorgeous depending on what you're after. Like I said before, maybe a little more emphasis on the egg. The shadows on the fingers are fantastic.
POST-CHALLENGE EDITING: I would recommend getting rid of the thumb hangnail as well as the scars on the middle fingertip. Near the bottom of your hand, you have an overshadow, which makes your hand look a bit dirty or bruised, so you might want to touch that up as well. Maybe lighten the hands a bit to get rid of some of the redness.
I have browsed through your galleries and you obviously know your stuff. Your unique approach to this challenge is refreshing, and I think it's a very interesting shot. |

Don't really see the rising sun in this but do think it's a neat photo. Shadows are a little harsh. Love the using of a yoke. Nice focus and croping, just don't see the rising sun. Nice photo and good idea. |

Nice shot. Interesting. I dont like the redness of the hand but I guess that was done to make it more sunlike. I would like it with the hand black and white or maybe blue. 7 |

Very good and original idea, I like it. I think however the hand looks a little too pink. Maybe desaturating all channels except yellow would help it. |

Cool and bizarre, you gotta like that! Color seems very good, as does the focus. Nice blank background. Lighting - it's your choice, but I'm not certain about the finger shadows (i'm not going to "ding" you for it, I really don't know!) 8 Swash |

I like how the fingers lead the eye directly to the yolk, which seems to defy gravity. Well composed and true to the challenge. Nice work! |

cool shot.. I like the lighting and contrast a lot... plus the DoF is great! you should do really really well this week... I like the desaturation technique, however I can stoill see a smidge of color... try doing the desat a couple of times... or more... that has worked for me to really get the color out... |

LOL, you have a vivid imagination! Pretty creative, although the picture isn't very appealing. Nice job on seperating the yoke out also. :) |

Fantastic ! There are so many great shots this week.
This one takes a 10 for the cleverness of the title and composition coupled with the mastery of eggsecution - the black background provides great depth and drama. Well done, I hope you get a ribbon for this. |

hmmm how did you get that yoke to stay there? It looks like your hand is up but maybe you have it laying down and fingers out. It has that wow unique factor for me. The lighting couldn't be better. Good luck ! |
