I intentionnalyy removed all colors except yellow and exagerrated the hue of it to get that glow above the eye. I think it gives that dramatic effect.

Thanks Doug! Appreciate mostly all your comments. The only thing I'd like to clarify is that there was only one light source: a flash! maybe this is what did the trick of many glares. Besides, Of course, if post processing would have been allowed I wouold have limited the yellow color to the eye but I couldn't and didn't dislike the effect but it seems to have to many commenters so I guess I should remember it next time! Thanks for your time, always a pleasure to read you!

Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
A real "Eye Catcher", meets the challenge, seems a bit over saturated

Composition/ Content
The thing I like the best about the shot is the angle of the eye. So many folks shoot it straight on and that makes this shot stand out. Cropping seems good as well.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems a little soft. It is hard to tell if that was straigh from the camera or because of post processing, but for a macro like this it is all important. The glare in the eye is little overpowering. It appears that you had too many light sources for this. When shooting something that you know is going to reflect it is usually better to limit yourself to one light source.

Digital Processing - Technical
I think if you could have limited the yellow color to the iris of the eye you would have been OK here but when the yellow overflowed to the skin as well it may have gone over the boundary of what is natural. It certainly gives it color but adds to the graininess and is a little disturbing. It appears from your comment that you like it that way and that is most important though. Don't let anyone tell you different!!

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a five as did most of the voters. I think that it meets the challenge and was certainly interesting but may have pushed the envelope for the post processing. Good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

A very startling photo, and one that is nicely composed. However, to make this really awesome, it must be more crisply focussed.

Interesting oversaturation of yellow and desaturation of all the others. I like it, others may not. I think its very artistic and I particularly like the rotating reflections and the strong dark eye lashes. 6

Awesome shot! I just wish that it was in focus. I think that if the idea of this shot had taken another approach it would have fit in better. For a macro shot like this a clear focused shot probably works best, but thats just my two cents. Other than that this is a great shot!

use some closeup filters or back the camera up just a little..that way focus will be easier to achieve... if your intention was soft focus here, it doesn\'t work, as macros are about detail... plus the heavy saturation makes it look like digital art and not photography... try saturating the color a little at a time and in layers for a more natural loom... adjust color lightness/darkness helps with this too

Poor color and clarity

The post processing on this shot creates your yellow for you, but the texture of the yellow seems quite unnatural and a bit disturbing overall... - setzler

Nice semi-abstract picture. If only spot editing was allowed...

interesting color manip, but IMO it's kinda heavy handed as it seems to have bled over to the skin, too. Good detail, but again the color manip seems to me to have affected the definition (like the pupil's edges). It's more artistic than photographic. Sorry, 4, Swash

Now that is yellow! I think this is going more in the direction of digital art considering the amount of post-processing applied. Nice composition and angle and yellow is dominant here so the challenge is also met.

Very "artsy" (and dare I say "eye catching" :-)). Would like to know how you did this.

I this very much, the only nit pick I see is the reflection in her eye is just a bit too much. I still score this high. Well done.

A little over saturated ya think! :-) Nice crop but way out of focus... not very appealing to look at.

This is pretty good... I like it a lot good effect, although there isn't much yellow it's still pretty interesting.
