The City I live in is dominated by a large hill, and this building is at the top of it. This can be seen from anywhere in the city, and is one of the primary contributers to the town. It used to be a women's College called Southern Sem. Now it's Southern Virginia University, a small private University.

I cropped it and adjusted the saturation a little.

This was taken just after Sunset while standing on the top of my Explorer. Small Aperture, long exposure. I'm generally a portrait photographer, so this was kind of a fun departure for me.

Thank you so much to everyone for their kind and constructive criticisms! This was my first attempt at this kind of photography. I'd never tried to shoot a building before, so I was in waters untested. I'm thrilled to see my first attempt was so well received, it is very encouraging!

I thought this one would at least be in the top 10. Beautiful shot and one of my favorites.

Congratulations on your top 20 finish. This image has a good visual feel with all the flowing lines and the night accents.

The wide lens has left this pretty distorted. Personally, I would have fixed it - but maybe this was your intention. Still, your choice of time of day was good and this is obviosly a landmark of some sort so I will give this a 7

I really like the exposure on this shot, as well as the wide angle. Great job!

Wow. Nice As a matter of personal taste though, I would have sacraficed the monument infront to get more close up to the house to avoid the wide angle curve. The house itself is eye catching. Your eye bypasses the monument in the foreground. BOL Very clean, crisp and colorful. 6

VERY nice wide angle. I think you got the exposure picture perfect. So clear and sharp. Wonderful framing and composition. I cannot offer any suggestions for improvement.

An interesting shot. I want to say you used a wide angle lens because it looks a little buldged in the middle but the lines look pretty straight. Weird. I think it would have been a bit better if you stepped forward 2-3 steps and got rid of the foreground item.

There's perhaps just a bit too much wide-angle distortion here - it doesn't quite suit the type of image this is - this clean, documentary style of shot - so the building just seem strange. Neatly done otherwise, though.

Wow...they left the lights on for ya! Lovely shot. I'm not sure if I like the star effect on the front light or if I find it distracting. Still, I think this is well done.

How in the world did you get them to turn on all their lights? Stunning home and image.
