 I took a few shots of this flower today. The weather being fairly overcast and the light was poor. One of the shots I took with spot flash came out the best.

The flower head of this pansy was very small and really quite striking. It is about the size of a one penny piece. Or the size of a mans thumb nail.
It's beauty normally missed by by those coming and going up the garden path.
The close up image shows how striking these flowers can be.

Lots of possibilites here, but in this case, the composition is a little flat and the image is a little overexposed. The stuff in the background in the lower half really needs to go away.

The light is a little strong and I would have removed, before shooting or after by cropping, the leaf with the hole in it. I haven't tried this yet, but I am seriously considering getting a large sheet to hang between the sun and the flower in order to diffuse the light as they are doing with the tabletop photos. You have lost the texure of the petals and the center of the flower to direct lighting. I love the purples in the background. A 7.

Interesting pattern on this pansy. The backround distracts from the subject. Too bad you couldn't get in closer.

Very pretty colors, nice use of shallow DOF to quiet the background down.
