 Thanks to my good friend TJ for holding still with a really bright flashlight while I got this 30 second exposure. This area of the UAE is called Al Quaa, and it has the least light pollution in the whole country. It was a new moon, and I couldn't remember the last time I saw so many stars!

That lower blue beam behind the dune was this Jeep with off-roading headlights that showed up just as we started shooting. It annoyed me at the time but I guess it looks kind of cool in the shot.

Had no doubt this would do well... Amazingly strong light that person is holding and have never been able to get it that strong. Congrats on the Blue!

looking a lot like a blue ribbon to me ..
what outstanding photographic skills you must have ..
this is mindblowing in so many ways .
just for starters is a perfectly magic image ..
its beautiful ..
the light is amazing ..
i cant imagine how you have got such a strong light coming out of what the person is holding . i will be wanting to know after rollover ..
