This was quite a drone outing. Mostly I was photographing the extraordinary patterns in the ice from on high, but then I decided to take the drone down near water level and see how close I could get to the swan. Very close, it turns out :-) This was all happening a couple hundred yards away from me across the water at the far side of the pond, so it was, shall we say, enervating :-) I had in the back of my mind that the swan might try to attack the drone, and we all know who would have won that encounter.

A whodunit! Our calm, stunning detective is taken to waters edge and is now pondering the proliferation of clues. The scene is busy in an enchanting manner, enchanting as a result of a narrow palette and all the delicate contrasts. It's a still moment in winter that envelopes everything in timelessness. The trees' reflections are beautiful. The spidery holes in the ice suggest an extraterrestrial component, but let's not go there. Enjoyable, compelling artistry.
