Post-challenge thoughts.

I shouldn't have entered this - it wasn't at all the shot I wanted to get. I'd been working pretty heavily all week, and had kept the sunday as the day to go and get the shot, and this was finally taken in a break in the low cloud that fogged the hill most of the day. It just doesn't have the magic I wanted to find, at all. In the end, I guesss I entered because it had been a while since I'd had aproper challenge shot up. editing took place late, and I think that shows - tiredness, and carelessness. Ah well, a lesson, perhaps, learned. Thanks for all the comments.

Wow... land, marked. Can't meet that challenge any better than that. I like the moody tones, but there's something wierd about the shadows/contrast on the bottom right corner. 8

This shot is great. It looks a bit grainy to me, but that may be intentional. Composition is great, but I do wonder what it would look like with a bit more sky. The patchwork fields in the mist are great as well. 9.

Returning for comments:
Possibly not the best time for this exposure but hey, as is, I am impressed. A most fascinating image with enough detail to appreciate. Bumping up.

Challenge link: very strong - nice take on the brief.

Image critique: strong comp and a great landmark. I'm not sure where this one his (Yorkshire?) - and I may have walked around this. The image is good but I get the feeling taht it might be an OK shot with some salvage through some editing, mainly due to some subdued contrast towards the back of the hill.

Out-of-challenge appeal: lovely scene. Reminds me of Yorkshire so I'd revisit.

GREAT composition and framing. The plains in the distance and the dramatic sky are wonderful touches to this spectacular photo.

Pewsey, right? I grew up very close to the Uffington White Horse. I like the muted colours, the real feeling of weather and the scale provided by the distant fields very much. great capture overall.

Very nice, it might have been better if you had moved back to capture more sky and landscape?

What an amazing landmark...... prior to your beautiful picture I had not heard of the Wiltshire White Horses. I was delighted when my google found : //wiltshirewhitehorses.org.uk/index.html
which contains history and pictures of several of these amazing hillside creations.

A very literal landmark. The composition is decent, pov is good. Some noise filtering would probably help.

Whoa, that is very cool! Photo seems a bit dark and soft focused (looks like it was taken at night). I wonder if it could have been shot from a different angle.
Really neat subject!
