So simple ..yet so effective.
I wish I could think as creatively as you have here Thamer.
Congrats on the top ten finish.

Love this picture. A pitty you cropped the bottom of the front egg.

Thamer! I better revise my placeholder system. I actually missed my come back to this image. Very astute. Congratulations on your 8th placing.

This is awesome. The framing seems a bit too tight though, by zooming out (or moving away, depending on your camera/lens) you'd be able to acheive slightly better depth of field too, which in this case would be benefitial, imo. Edit: still upgrading to 9, this is far more original than most of the shots in this challenge.

Brilliant Idea, and really well shot. If you want a print of this or whatever I would advise you clone out the outlines of the markings on the outside of the shell. But you get a 9 for a really imaginative and amusing approach.

If scratches would have shown up I think that would have looked even more "realistic" than the pen, and fit in even better with the subtle(?) humor.

haha - excellent. perhaps more DOF would be in order, since i can't tell an advantage to just focusing on the first shell, nor a disadvantage if you had included the second one. maybe slightly more lighting, since the corners seem a bit dark

Beautifully photographed, beautifully lit. A real sense of fragility in those eggs. For me, it's a shame you felt you had to go further with the image - the prison marks undermine an exceptioonally graceful image. I wonder if you'll fall between two stools with this ...

Outstanding entry on all aspects, theme, artistic, and technical. Wonderful DOF, focus, and detail. The composition, framing, and tone is very effective. My pick for top 10. 8

Hilarious. Because of the thin shell even the inside that we cannot see shines through and even there the creature marked the wall, splendid!

That is absolutely hilarious. Really nice B&W. Only suggestion would be to have a bit darker shadows for added contrast. But excellent overall. Really really like this one. It stands out and it's unique. Good luck.

Now, where would a chick get black ink? The composition, tonal range and comic spirit here are all first-rate. My only suggestion would have been to use yellow for the counting. That would have been more macabre. 9
