thanks for all the comments. unfortunately this is a photo i know could have been better, but it was TOO COLD to hang around and take tons of photos. sorry. i took a couple straight on and could only capture two columns of escapes, which did not quite, to me, represent the contest as much as this photo did, with row after row of fire escapes. here is an older photo that i took a while ago that inspired me to wander back down there and find this image again . . . but as i said, it was just toooo coooold to find the right image. given the many weaknesses of the photo, i'm pretty happy with the outcome (although i think the angle that the buildings recede from the starting point is too harsh to cut out the bottom any more than i already did). |

I think you could crop the bottom above the cars/people and have a stronger image. |

This shot has some very interesting patterns and color... all the activity seems to add a sense of chaos which works well :) - setzler |

Pretty nice. I would have cropped it so the clear beginning of the second story was right at the bottom of the picture and zoomed in a little more. |

this is a potentially great subject and well seen. I don't know that you've made the best use of the subject matter though - the area of sky breaks up the composition, as do the people and cars.
I'd love to see this taken more 'straight on' from the other side of the street to really emphasize the patterns and also make more use of the great colour between the purple/red walls and the green escapes |

These colors almost don't look real. Nice capture. |

Fits the challenge very nicely. I really like how the stairs stand out. You could try cropping out the bottom portion (people and cars), this would help keep the eyes on te stairs and the perspective. Good job. Jacko. |

I like the concept. I think you should either leave enough of the street level in the shot for the viewer to really see what is going on or else cut it out completely. I personally would probably crop the bottom boarder a little higher to reduce the clutter that shows up at the bottom. 5 |

I think the rhythm of the fire escapes might be more apparent if the street at the bottom was cropped out as to not distract from the pattern above. |

I like the repitition here, perhaps I would prefer it with the street and people cut off, concentrating on just the building. |

Great find here, and good eye to see it. Neat shot, well done, good luck to you. |

Nice submission - cropping at bottom is a tad abrupt. |
