Challenge: New Year's Resolution XIV (Extended Editing*)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II
Lens: Olympus 12-100mm f/4.0 M.Zuiko ED IS PRO
Location: San Diego
Date: Jan 6, 2022
Aperture: 5.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1
Date Uploaded: Dec 29, 2021

Learned to program my drone to "write in the sky" using a small but bright light attached to its backside. The light can be switched from white to green to red (but not remotely). So I had to first turn it green and draw the tree, then bring it back, switch the light to red, and fly again to draw the year. Altogether it took about 10 minutes, I think. I used a very smart LiveComposite mode on my Olympus camera, so I could extend the exposure indefinitely without overexposing the background. So this is a single frame, it would be legal under Standard ruleset as well.
As you see, my writing so far is rather sloppy, not sure why yet, my waypoints were arranged very neatly. So one of my New Year resolutions is to learn better "dronewriting" skills :).

So cool that this is one exposure, technology on cameras today is awesome, really need to consider an upgrade but then I̢۪d still have to learn to use it and fly drones and invest in new glass. Guess I̢۪m sticking with what I̢۪ve got.

This is really well done and agree it makes a great holiday card for warmer areas.

how many takes was that to get right, nice setting and light on the horizon, like the reflection of the drone lights
