 I have done something similar a long time ago, but with a "round hole". When I saw this challenge this immediately came to my mind. Shape dichotomy, black and white dichotomy and I like the light, which really enhances the "dichotomy" IMO.
I did a nicer edit taking out the "flap" on top and straightening the box a bit for myself, but couldn't do that within Standard editing.

I used a strobe with a soft box to light it.
