from the critique club:
You certainly have an eye for concept and execution. The image , "Fired" on b/w is very nice. It is appararent that you are thinking out the ideas. This is very good practice because it gets easier as you go.
Your current image is well staged and the lighting is good. You must understand that figurines, stuffed animals, etc have their use but with them you must expand your concept even further so as to give them a role so vital that their presence will not be questioned. Look at BradP's cat scan. In short the animal or creature must take second billing to the overall delivery.
So while your compositions are good, you only need to include subjects that are more suited to your concept. It is difficult, but it can be done. Being your second entry, I would not dwell to much on it. It is certain that your development is evolving and I suggest to follow your instincts and after about five entries begin a re-assessment to detrimine what works and does not.
Again, you have a potential and you are starting to express yourself. There is much fun in this process and with your effort you may certainly surprise is and yourself. Keep them coming. dan

Such a freaky image. I expect this little creature to turn on me and try to sink his fangs into my flesh. The use of light, point of view, and composition create an intense tension in what is a seemingly innocent image. (Maybe I have issues from childhood or something.) Very creepy. Anything that gets that strong of an emotional reaction from me gets bumped up from my intial reaction. |
