I actually put a great deal of thought into this picture. I placed the syringe pointing up and to the right to symbolize hope for the future. The syringe is my dad's. He has M.S. and gives himself a shot three times a week.

The LIVESTRONG wristband is his, too. I faced the "live" part of the band out to signify that the shot allows him to live, and, hopefully live life the way he used to. I also cropped this closer at the top so that the band and syringe would be in the upper part of the frame, again, to symbolize hope.

If you don't have someone in your life who is struggling just to survive, you don't understand how important these yellow bands of hope are. Everytime I see one, I think of Lance Armstrong, and I know that hope, faith and determination are powerful forces.

It sometimes makes me sad when I read rude comments on this site. There is a big difference between honest, helpful criticism, and hurtful, spiteful words.
Everyone knows in his or her heart that difference.

I cropped, adjusted the brightness and contrast, shadow and highlight, and slightly sharpened using unsharp mask.

Your comments you made on the making of this image just floored me. Thank God for young women like yourself, and a daughter with guts.

A bit of noise in the bracelet, but a nice composition.

I used one of these too. I would've like to see maybe more of the Live Strong in the photo (though, admittedly, I'm not practicing what I preach :) ) Maybe would be better with more of the letters in the field of focus, and the end of the needle more visible. Still, a very good shot, good luck! :o)

This looks just like that other photo of a "VESTRO" bracelet. ;-)

I like the message of this photo. The direction of the needle, up and to the right, with the bracelet in the upper half of the frame shows hope. The use of yellow against the black is stunning. I love this image. Powerful image with a lot of thought. Nice work!
