 A revisit to this entry from 2016.


About a year or two after my visit there, a group of people drove their pick up trucks onto the Playa and did "donuts" just for fun, destroying a large area of the Racetrack for decades to come. I have not been back since, and can only hope that the conditions required for the sailing rocks to do their magic have been recreated, and the damage has been erased.

Being on this vast, flat land with these unique stones felt very holy to me. The ground was warm and scaly, like the skin of some immense living creature, with only the sounds of a gentle breeze and an occasional bird to pierce the sacred silence.

its unfortunate that most ppl equate a holy place with a man made building or edifice ..
when its in nature or in our hearts that the most holiest of places can often be found ..
this is absolutely magic ... the sky is beyond amazing .. like a portal to the divine .. :)
