Hello from the Critique Club :)

I think this a very emotive photograph and a very interesting take on the challenge.

I would have to agree with the other commentors on this photograph that ring if in focus would add a great impact. I would recommend trying to focus on the ring and use higher F number and let the DOF work for you. The placement of the ring looks good, but if you follow the rule of thirds, it might be helpful for this shot.

Lighting is a bit harsh on the ring and you can see a lot of glare. If you are using any kind of lamp, you might like to try and use any soft fabric as diffuser. Again I see a yellow cast around the ring which you might like to avoid. A plain white envelope would make this shot more appealing. I believe you wanted to show the yellow boxes to represent its a post or mail and they look ok to me.

Background as it stands now is nice and simple, but a darker background might help accentuate the subject. I would love to see a combination of darker background and more white envelope.

Overall I think, you captured a very emotive moment here which can be improved with a more defined focus and better lighting.

Very emotive. It would have been nice to see the ring in focus.

More than a few broken heart photos in the challenge, but I think this is well done. Somebody has nice handwriting. Anyway, I would have tried moving the ring towrd the Dear John a bit more and try to get them both in focus.

I like the idea! (Of course, since I had a similar shot in this challenge, almost identically titled). It seems that the ring could have been more in focus.

this is a really clever take on the challenge

Nice concept. Needs more DOF - the ring (arguably the most important object) is out of focus.

Whjat are the yellow rectangles for? Unless it adds something to the image, leave it off.

great idea, lighting, colors, composition, but the ring really should have been in focus to make this a great image. i would definitely recommend revisiting this shot.
