Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Jimmy...

This is an excellent photo... I'm not sure why it didn't score better than it did. I may be one of a minority who really enjoys nice black and white images like this one. Reading through the comments you received, it seems that several people interpret this challenge in such a way that they feel the human element is a requirement. I find it unfortunate that viewers don't allow their mind to open up to different interpretations. I agree that some of the shots in this challenge where the human element was represented are quite strong, but it's not a reason to abandon alternative interpretations.

I like the dark sky in this shot... that seems to enhance the sense of despair for me. The overall exposure is pretty good also. The sunlight is on the boat in such a way that it makes it stand out prominently in the scene.

This photo is definitely printworthy. I hope you decide to make this one available for print on dpc in the near future :)

Keep up the good work :)

Great photo. Interesting shot for the challenge. It definetely implies a sense of despair to me. 8

Great B&W. The despair is obvious for sure, poor boat! Not really too much to comment about on this one. Maybe the white dot in the middle of the sky shouldn't be there, but otherwise wonderful!

Almost put this at the top, but I'm not sure I like it in b&w: would love to see a colour version - maybe the ground would look drier? It also for me, doesn't quite say 'despair', as in no hope at all - still looks pretty much like a boat, huh?

This doesn't look like a good situation at all...I think some human feeling would add a lot to this shot.

Looks more like "Gilligan's Island". But very good I like it. 7.

Very nice but not sure where the despair theme is carried. out

Nice tonal values set off both boat and mast.

I like the concept of this photo, but I feel like there's something missing. Perhaps it's the darkness in the sky. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Nice contrast, but where is the human element
