The mother hummingbird makes the nest of moss, lichen and even spider webs which allows the nest to expand as the chicks grow. There are usually 2 eggs in a nest. It takes about 2 weeks for the eggs to hatch and they will stay in the nest for 18 to 28 days before leaving. The males have little to do with the females and the young besides mating.

Congrats on top 10. I just put this image on my large screen computer and I am blown away by its beauty. Stunning! I love hummingbirds, I have so many in my yard time to try shooting them.
