 What a surprise, I almost did not enter this. I had edited it, but then didn't like it much, and when I realized I had run out of time to shoot something else I submitted this :-).

There isn't that much of a backstory. I was on a beach holiday with my dogs and there were several pieces of driftwood along the beach. The others were more "standard" looking. My dogs are trained for "parcour", which means when they see something to jump/climb onto, they will :-D.

Once I removed all the dogs, I took this picture. I thought it was an interesting shape and the top portion looked like a Xenopus leavis (frog). I did my post grad on those frogs wayyyy back, but if you handle something daily for a couple of years it just "sticks" with you I guess :-)

After all these years and I still can't get a picture onto a comment :-(. Click on the link, it shows the frog from below. That's how they "hang" in the water most of the day

many congratulations for the red in this challenge Gaby .. very dramatic .. :)
i can just imagine you walking your dogs on this beach and them seeing this weird shaped log/driftwood thing and being curious .. not sure what it is .. initially a bit standoffish .. then coming closer .. till they sniff .. and realize its just a piece of wood .. then running off with the wind in their hair .. ;)
lol ... now i want to know the backstory .. !! .. ;)
