This time of year the hummingbirds become extremely active. The chicks (baby hummingbirds) have left the nest and the number of visitors to the feeders has multiplied. They become very territorial and aggressively protect their space while feeding to fatten up for the long migration in September and early October. I have several feeders in my backyard spread out so they can all get their fill! I have observed them for many years and have recognized some that return each year. I am fascinated with their behavior and surprisingly found that each one has their own identifiable personality! This little one was drinking nectar from the feeder when another flew in to chase her away and have the feeder to himself. I caught the action at just the right moment for the entry in this challenge.
