this photo caught my eye - so i decided to:
1) figure out how it was made
2) try to enhance it with a different lighting approach.

there were a number of comments about the paper edges curling, i did notice this but thought it might make the fact it's just paper stand out a bit better. and i didn't have any other heavier paper handy.

this is a fairly simple concept - but a difficult one to photograph perfectly.

small clone - deepened blacks - fine tuned blue and yellow - resize - USM

Appearance is Everything - jpoole - yellow ribbon - challenge illusions

thanks to jmsetzler for his lighting tip.

It's just a block looking thing on paper and the pencil is just laying there and the tact is on the second "box"

good, but if you coulda flattened out the white paper a bit more, would've been many times better.

Actually, I like this better than the original. I like the lighting better with these lesser shadows. Well done.

Excellent recreation of jpoole's illusion entry. I prefer this one to the original due to better lighting and focus. One recommendation: use heavier stock paper.

Well it's technically sound. I don't know what else to say about this one. I just don't find it hugely interesting, but still, technically sound, and that's gotta count for something. 5.

I'd rate this higher if the edges of the paper were flat instead of curled.

Nice recreation of the Escher effect -- a 10 because it kept me captivated.

very nice optical illusion. MC Escher-like. I'd like to see the setup. however: as an photo this does nothing to me, or rather for me. too static and lifeless maybe.

One of my favorite images of all time and you nailed it minus the paper sticking up around the edges. Good work!
