Ok. This plane was WAY the heck up there!!! Had been watching them load up 16 sky divers and take off. Then tried to keep an eye on the plane until they unloaded. This was my 3rd attempt. My arms felt like they were going to fall off trying to hold the largest lens I own, skyward. At one point I laid down on the grass, had the camera on my face, as I tracked the plane. LOL Glad nobody saw THAT. :-)

Anyway, this last run I was able to finally get the timing right. I have an entire series of the diver coming out and the parachute deploying in sequence. Pretty cool.

Had a 1.4 converter on the 400. Registered as 560. Then with a crop sensor, the reach was somewhere around 840mm full frame equivalent (if I'm doing the math correctly). Was fun trying to hold that steady!

Went back and forth on the processing. It was a pretty clean image with the plane and blue sky, but a tad boring. Played around with an added texture overlay and kind of liked this look. Hope I'm not the only one. :-P

Congratulations on your HM!

Since you mentioned the filter, I will say that that is the ONLY thing that I do not like about your image.

But, I didn't vote, so... you got away with it. Ha! :)

your title and that guy jumping out of the plane made me smile ..
for that you get extra points ..

i really dont like to say something negative .. especially as i'm so aware its just my opinion .. but i wasnt a huge fan of the 'texture' in the sky .. but having said that you might have had to do some damage control with the quality of the shot .??. i've done stuff like that before .. of course this might be how you visualized it or how it developed when you were editing ..

so having said all that ........ the longer i look at this the better it becomes .. even that texture ..

time spent looking and becoming one with a photo often reveals so much more than a cursory glance ..

so cursory would have been 6 ..
time spent became 8 .. :)
