Cheers from the Critique Club...
This is a wonderful re-creation of Scablab's original third place Still life and in my opinion is more appealing. The composition is bang on and the lighting helps bring out the colours and shine of each apple. The image is very sharp and the contours of the apples draw my attention right to the centre making it very appealing and inviting (makes your mouth water).
The only thing that may negatively impact this image for some is the glare from the lights. Some minor cloning (under the advanced editing rules) to tone this down may have improved the image for some.
In my amatuer opinion, this was one of a few re-creations in this challenge that resulted in a stronger image then the original. Great job!
Congratulations on your 15th place finish.
Regards,
Shawn Muir

i was gonna say that the border is a bit hefty, but i checked and it's pretty close to the original. i like this even better than the original (though i must admit that they have two different looks, and i suppose it could just be a matter of taste). apple on front left looks slightly bruised :( - just a minor detail, though. |

Very, very strong. In this Macintosh image, we have more arc in the foreground shadow, which helps a lot. The orientation of the apples for color is fantastic. |

Good enough to eat. The roundness of the fruit comes out well here. |

Having two photos in one challenge that are nearly identical as rare, and allows for a side-by-side comparison that is unfamiliar to me as a DPC voter. Of the two macintosh apple studies, yours is more vibrant in color, sharper in focus, and just seems to spring from the monitor and activate the 'wow' factor. The apples are shiner and thus the lighting effect is more noticable. Very well done. I give your image a 7. |

I think your apples are too shiny - takes away that amazingly warm impression one gets from the original. A wonderful imitation though. |
