 saw this very small fly on a mandarin on my mandarin tree ..

it was only when I focused on it that i noticed it was blowing bubbles .. in and out ..

i've seen this behaviour before but the bubbles have often been quite gross and murky/dirty looking .. lucky that this bubble was quite attractive .. !! .. ;)

there are several ideas that ppl have put forth as to why they blow bubbles ..

some say to cool down .. but i've seen them do it when it's quite cold ..

this is an interesting article about flies blowing bubbles

shame that resized to 1200pxls longest side it loses a lot of its sharpness/clarity .. :(

An amazingly sharp image in spite of resizing. Congrats on the blue! Thanks for linking the article. I found it very interesting. I entered this picture in DPC in 2012. Not nearly as good as yours:)
