Nice idea...but the sun is way overexposed on the floor, the background is cluttered and not level. A snapshot for your family album.
This is why i hate to take pics around my house - too much crap in the background!

Nice photo. I think it would be nice a bit more cropped from the top.

How can you go wrong with a baby and a dog?

Open your apeture or check the background for distracting elements when composing your picture. It also might help if you were a bit lower in relation to your subject. Shows a lot of potential.

The play of light in this scene lends itself to shillouettes. Try to line up the shot for a shillouette next time, thus with less detail in the faces of the subjects. Great start!

Returning for comments. This was almost a very good photograph, but as it is, it's just a snapshot. Let me explain. I think a photograph is something that you or others would hang on the wall, or in paging through an album or book, would pause to look at whereas a snapshot is something that the family would enjoy, but probably wouldn't hang on the wall. Having said that, I realize that this was one moment in time and you had to take it. The reason that it isn't a good "photograph" (in my opinion) is that there is clutter in the background against the wall, some clutter on the carpet and the photo isn't level. If those issues were not so prominant, I would give this picture an 8 or 9 becuase there are things that I really like here such as the interaction between the child and the dog and the natural lighting on the childs face. As is, I'll have to give it a 6.

I love the shot but the trashcan and crates are distracting.

Good moment captured, could be a great photo if not for distracting stuff in the back and the sun spot on the floor.
