A tribute to Scab-lab's yellow ribbon winner in the Still Life challenge entitled Macintosh.
I copied the set-up as well as the technique, painting with light. Shot using a small light bulb moved around over the top of the apples and a black velvet for background.
Shot in raw mode.
Post processing: cloned out some of the glare from the light source, levels, curves, color adjustment; a little bit of CCW rotation, cropped, resized, Neat Image, usm. I modified the border from the original... not that I didn't like Gary's border, just a personal preference.
Hope the voters like it, the same way as they liked Gary's original. Thank you, Gary.

this has potential. I'd want to see a bit more of a convex shadow to the foe, so the arc of lit apple is a little more agressive. |

The lack of light below has somehow reduced the roundness of the fruit. It still glows with goodness though. |

Very nice, the lights seems just a tad bright in a few spots, not much but a bit distracting. I love the original and I love this one. Well done, An 8 |

Having two photos in one challenge that are nearly identical as rare, and allows for a side-by-side comparison that is unfamiliar to me as a DPC voter. Your Macintosh selection looks a little dull compared to the other, and maybe a little soft on focus, and just doesn't "pop" out of the monitor. These are not huge issues though, and I probably would never have mentioned them at all if it weren't for the easy comparision. I give your image a six and will return for further study. |

Has precisely the right feel - and in the organisation of the apples themselves, is arguably preferable to the original. Strong work. |
