I based this image on the story in the Bible when Peter denied Jesus three times. He never thought he would, but Jesus had prophesied that he would. I can imagine the despair he felt, when he realized he had indeed denied him.
I cut out a cross from cardboard, and used a carving of a person in a position that, to me, looked humbled, and sorry.
I set this up on my table top with a white board as a background. I used a clamp on lamp and put red cellophane in front of it. (the wrapping from a box of valentine candy. I set my camera on a tripod, and shot a few rounds.

Strong emotional photo Gracious. I don't think it's like anything you've ever done before. Very strong artistic feel/look.
I like the composition, color and light. I think this fits the challenge, even if it does make me feel uncomfortable.
Keep on keepin' on!

Very emotive shot. i'm not sure you meant it in the way that i took it recognizing the statue as a crying buddha. Great composition and tone. The red light seems more angry than despairing to me as well, but it also suggests the fires of hell which is good. I would have liked to see such a powerful image in slightly more powerful spotlighting, especially to get rid of the border crease. It would have been really awesome to shine the only light through the cross, especially since you already had the red valentine's wrap out!

Wow that figure really is in despair, nice find there! The cross behind him fits in well. The post processing is a a matter of taste but not really negative at all, maybe a little grainy, especially noticeable on the cross. Good luck.

Pretty strong message. Very creative, good job. Only thing is, should have put the cross on the other side to "balance" the picture.

Are you sorry, upset? This just seems to be a photo of someone's art. I like the red effect.

This is a good concept with a strong emotional content, especially for those who know the stories in the bible. However, the red tone gives a feeling of anger or ashamedness rather than despair.
