Inspired by Gordon's PAINTING WITH LIGHT. I thought I'd try to do it with a different color and more textured brush. Gordon: congratulations on your original shot! Boy this is hard to get it right!!!

Shot with a 17-55mm 2.8 at f8, 10s. The brush is on red velvet. I used a maglight with tinfoil to narrow the light beam (pretty much like Gordon explains in his original description). Then I took tons of shots. This one is the best I could get.

I encourge people to try playing with long expositions and "painting with light" your subject. It is very creative and although it's hard, it is a lot of fun to sculpt the picture like that.

Happy holiday everyone!

Would you look at that, a DrJones shot with no one's or two's. Thats gotta be a first. While not quite up to par with the original, this was my favourite of the light painting shots.

white light too harsh for my tastes

I don't care for these streaks of light as much....maybe a different technique? I also would have liked a nicer looking paintbrush. Sometimes it's all in the details.

This is technically brilliant shot. I really like it. Good reproduction. 9.

Cool Concept

Looks magical but it doesn't quite work for me. The brush handle needs to be lifted to make it look as if the brush is making an effort.

for some reason I really don't like the paintbrush you use. why? have no idea.

An excellent attempt. Not quite up to the quality of the original winner, but very good all the same

Nicely done!
