I like this shot, a good start in DPC =). It's all a learning experience, learning to be a better photographer. Your aim is straight on here. |

That's ok Skiprow, I appreciate the undeserved 10!
I probably shouldn't have attempted an indoor shot, seeing as I had difficulty in discerning what exactly was appropriate light, and how it "should" look. Perhaps if I took the shot outside, the light play would have been easier- but with much snow around here, I'm sure I would have had difficulty adjusting to the light being reflected off the snow.
Yeah, thanks all for the critiques, I agree with all of you. I did use a tripod- however the picture seems rather "fuzzy". I am guessing that my camera wasn't screwed onto the tripod tight enough, which may have caused movement when pressing the shutter. I've always seemed to have trouble getting any pictures taken on my camera, in focus, not sure if it's my handling or the problem lies in the camera itself. Next challenge, I'll pay close attention to the tripod- and hopefully that problem will be resolved.
Bear music, I agree, I didn't like how the finger overlapped the rock- but I had little to go on since this was really the best of all the images my camera produced. Next time, I'll go with gut instinct and when I think it doesn't look right, I won't quit until it's exactly how I want it. |

well, my challenge comment was basically idiotic, without much tact. sorry about that. you have received some good tips that hopefully will help point you in the right direction. and i did mean what i said about imagination, creativity, and scoring it a 10. good luck going forward!

Lol. I recall the craze with pet rocks. However, you should take advantage of the full size. Voters pass over images that are small. They have no mercy. I am giving you a 6. |

basically, this is a crappy photo. the composition is ok, the lighting is horrible, and the focus is off. can't wait to see what camera shot this. all the same, it shows imagination and creativity. in the spirit of the season, you'll get a 10 from me! good luck, and keep working at it! |

This is a little blurry. The idea seems original, maybe the composition could be improved a teensy bit. |

awkward composition, especially the overlap of finger with stone upper left and the empty area lower right. Depoth of field inadequate, point of max sharpness looks like it's BETWEEN fingers and big stone, nothing is quite sharp... |
