I'm with you on that one Pascal, Big difference between Electronic and Electrical, I would have hoped more voters had picked up on that but based on a thread elsewhere the 2 terms are continously being mixed, oh well like I say good shot.

As electronics include devices with components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, integrated circuits, which are operating at low currents (mA or ìA), it is clear that the shot didn’t miss the meaning of the challenge. I’ve tried to show a part of a car’s engine which is electro-mechanical (not electronic of course, not exclusively electrical also). Electrical and electronic are related terms but strictly different for the engineers.

Don't be put off by the people who class a bit of basic electrical ignition system as electronic's.I gave you that ten and standby it, should have been placed much higher, it's a great shot.

Don't all engines look like that?
01/03/2005 11:13:19 PM
By the looks of the subject of the photo, these are electrical things, not mechanical.

What is mechanical about a bunch of wires that are connected to electrical devices. Does not meet the challenge
01/02/2005 10:00:30 PM
it's dusty all right, but mechanics?! It's wires, for God's sake!

Like the compositiuon very much, the tonalities as well. It's a nice picture, but it doesn't sing to me beyond that level.

Why take a photo of the electrical parts?
12/31/2004 05:45:03 PM
A beautiful composition. It's crying out to have much higher contrast.and gritty tone

I see an electrical connector... and coil wires... does not really meet the challenge.
12/30/2004 09:44:20 AM
isn't a battery connected to these wires, electrical?
12/29/2004 10:08:32 PM
I actually really like this in a way, but plug wires are just about the most un-mechanical thing I can think of in an engine bay!

Composition: 3, wires lead out of picture, no real main subject.
Technical: 2
Appeal: 1, Not interesting
Challenge: 1
Overall Calculated Average Score: 2, IMO missed the challenge completely

OOPS - not mechanical. These are the ignition coils & spark plug wires on an engine.
Good composition though. ((5))

Subject was no electronic device. Spark plug system are electronic devices. Nice photo though.

Are you brave or ignorant? Non electronic was in the challenge description, and here is a DIS coilpack on a newer car...see what position you put me in? ONe theory is on non-meeting pics, challange wise, use a 1-5 scale...so i will. Good luck.
