 Is this fair? It's a photo of a photo. I've read the rules and don't know if this is acceptable. The original was shot on 8mm film then the individual frame was shot on 35mm film using a Fujica SLR with an adapter for 8mm frames. I composed the original on the Big Island of Hawaii about 1981 at a hotel lobby parking area while waiting for a "Fare" to hire my taxi to go somewhere. Sorry I just like the shot and thought I'd give it a shot.

CRITIQUE

Challenge: I'm not quite sure how this fit into the despair challenge? I would love to know your reasoning, in case I am missing something.

Technique: Usually not a good idea to just photograph a page in a book, but I appreciate you explaining it. Alot of the challenge is based on your own creativity, and you may have to worry about copyrights, etc as well. It is also off centered and a bit blurry, probably because it is from a book.'

Overall: Not sure it fits the challenge, and I would definitely stick with your OWN work from here on out.

I like the tones and composition of this photo in terms of placement of the word TAXI. The stark contrasts really draw my attention. I must admit to being a bit baffled as to the relevance of the word TAXI in this way to the theme of despair. The image may also be more effective in its communication with a bit more sharpness overall. The title does not clear up my perplexity.

I'm not sure I understand how this ties in with dispair, but the image is creative. The main object although, is not focused very well or centered in the middle.

I'm afraid I just don't get this one... sorry... It looks like letters made of cigarettes, which only serves to confuse me more.

I don't get the connection to despair with this. Maybe if you had made some connection with the symtoms of smoking - lung cancer etc?
