Not a great shot, but I haven't entered a challenge in a while, so I thought I'd see how this one does. I do have a fondness for candids at fairgrounds, I'll have to see if I can go back to this one before it goes. No NeatImage.

This is the first time viewing this one. It's a pretty good psychological study of relationships. She's all angry and her hands are hidden. Her personality only has expression in the movement of her mouth and the direction of her gaze. He is reaching out for something better. But he isn't ready to let go of what he now holds. The closed hands would suggest some hesitation. Even the half and half lighting on his face suggests two differing directions.
Anyway. I like it.

This is a wonderful shot for me. The opposition of the supposedly fantastic fairground ride with what seems to be a quiet sense of panic in the couple is so funny. I'm left wondering if the panic is about the ride or the relationship. Great moment. Thanks.

These expressions could not be more candid.

Most people at the fair appear to be having fun. These folks look like they'd rather be some where else. Not sure what you're trying to convey with this image.

Funny juxtaposition! Nice tones. I am not sure what to make of their expressions. Might have been fun to stay there and sample some others coming off the ride.

Very nice tones, great placement of subjects on a 3rds rule, excellent use of the background image to balance the whole. A bit of a blowout on the railing and the white arm in the corner is somewhat distracting, but a great image anyway. Bumping to an 8

This is exactly what I feel a candid is supposed to be.Black and white works great, and the backround sets the tone of the message. Good job.

Heh, no wonder it has the longest lines. A few places of improvement I see: the picture seems to be at a slight tilt, perhaps giving it a bit of a rotation would help. Also, the random elbow just jutting into the frame I'm not too fond of. And one other thing I don't really like: I feel like two subjects compete for my attention in the composition. The people, who undoubtedly are the intended subject, but then the artwork in the background is pulling my attention away from the people. But besides all that, this is the first border in the challenge I've seen that's worked. It's a little contrasty, and I'd like to see more detail in the blacks/whites, but all in all, its toned well. I like the expressions on the faces of the riders.

Extraordinary overall impact. I wish more work had been done to separate the figures a tad from their dark surrounds. If we could just SZEE his arms where they cross the seat bolsters, the hands would be a much stronger element.
