Challenge: Best of 2004 (Advanced Editing III*)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III
Location: Belding Bike Trail, MI
Date: Dec 31, 2004
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: Jan 2, 2005

I went shooting down a local trail and saw this view point riding my bike so I thought why not cant her to snap a few. Turned out well I thought. Now that I look at it closer I see how the path leads to a thicker tree line and thicker forest.

Doesn't meet the challenge: zero.
; )

Good subject, a lovely wood, but I feel it needs more interest in the form of an animal, person or other feature to retain interest. Colours/light are a bit flat.

Bumping this up a bit. The composition really has potential. I think more dramatic lighting is needed. I suggest playing with the lighting in PS to see what you can achieve. I also would suggest seeing what BW would look like. It could really make the texture of this shot pop.

Nicely seen and composed, with it not being too centered. A little bright / washed out and might benefit from a little curves adjustment. Still a nice shot though ((7)).

This has a cool mood to it- I like how its symmetrical but at the same time the road provides a curve that lets the eye wander- i like the perspective

Not for the claustrophobic. Those branches seem to be suffocating. I think you successfully conveyed the message in your title.

i love the idea and the basic composition. i think the lighting is fine. however, something is just not clicking for me. it's as if the image is somehow muted. wish i could tell you more, but i can't. good luck with the rest of the voters, 6 is the best i can do here.

I think this is good but could have been very good with a little more contrast on the nice path line. Have you thought about B/W here....the colour isn't integral to the success of the photo...it might add to the 'mood'.

This image is very simple in subject and composition, and I like that.... it's always nice when a photo takes you somewhere - and I can't help but wonder where that path goes. Theres a couple of pieces of rubbish in the leaves that could be cloned out, but I quite like this one. 7

Nice composition. Would have been nicer without all that green on the trees.

Nice composition, image colours seem a little dull. I might have tweaked a bit to brighten it up and enriched the colours, or maybe gone to B&W which would have enhanced the shadows. If you use Photoshop, you should try Gothic Glow which would add a whole new perspective to this image.

nice, woudl like to see it in BW though, a little flat as it is.

Nicely done. I like the leading line of the trail, and how it contrasts with the vertical patterns of the trees. 8

Lovely path! The soft colors create a nice mood, but the tone seems slightly off. The white scrap at the side distracts from the otherwise nearly pristine setting. The photo itself is nice, I think it could be nicer if you re-think the post-processing.
