Great picture of fireworks display. But as I'm sure others are telling you, there's nothing candid about it.

It may be that you won't agree with me, but in my mind "candid" implies a photograph of a person at a candid (i.e. unaware of the camera) moment. So, to that way of thinking, this doesn't really meet the challenge. Very nice photo however. Lots of action. Nice lighting. Good contrast between dark sky and lights and fireworks.

To me this just does not meet the challenge. There is nothing candid about this particular photograph. Nice shot but perhaps should be for a different competition other than candid.

Absolutely gorgeous photo however as I'm sure you've heard many times already. I don't see how it meets the challenge.

I say the above in jest.

I think you captured the mood of New Years perfectly and I like the out of the box thinking you did on this.

While this is a great and I do mean "Holy Cow Batman look at all those fireworks!", I cannot see any link to the challenge of candid here. Aside from the spectacular wow look at all those freakin fireworks factor, the crop is the only other thing going for this shot in the candid challenge and it is only enough to rate a 3.
